The Serpent & The Sphere by Agalloch
Melana Chasmata by Triptykon
Shadows of the Dying Sun by Insomnium

And the usual array of average to above-average and yet beloved new releases we got this year, along with some heavier shit (La Dispute, Swans) that was also great and isn't metal.

Honestly, I think that's a pretty good output relative to what I've seen the past few years.

Everyone likes it. The Seer was just brutal, but you can only place so much value on an album you enjoy once and is a chore every time you throw it on again. The new one is brutal and strangely enjoyable.
