Early in the build, he was beasting blockers to the tune of 4 - 1 revcakes to pancakes. As he's gotten higher leveled, he is getting pancaked more. Footwork? Balance? Quickness? Would any of these help stop the pancakes?

Revcakes aren't really something worth targeting as a barometer for how well your DE is doing against the run. What's more important than how often SAs like Shed Block go off (at least for DEs) is your ability to quickly change direction to get those outside run HBs before they break the corner. For that, a decent amount of balance, quickness, and pursuit go far.

Depends. Sometimes U want ur DE to clog the line of scrimmage and stop blockers from getting outside. It is a team game. Some1 has to work for some1 to shine.

You might want to watch to see which plays he's getting pancaked on. His PR Tech and Power are low, so it could be happening on passing downs.
Tech determines whether or not you win the interaction, power determines how hard you shove/get shoved. Balance helps prevent falls.

If he plays Special Teams, that could also be a suspect. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I think ST is based on an average of run and pass skills.
